Art show! Join us on Saturday, Dec. 3 for an Art/Craft Show featuring six creative artists/crafters – Alicia, Joel Cole, Jayne Harnett-Hargrove, Tanya LaCorte, Meghan Martin, and Claire Simpson Jones. Pop in for a chance to see their work and to purchase works directly from the artists. The art show will be located in the lower Garden Shop (our new classroom).

Special this year: Artist Claire Simpson-Jones created the labels for this year’s Biltmore Estate Limited Release Christmas Wine. Bring in your bottles of Biltmore Limited Release Christmas wine for Claire to sign during our Pop-Up Art/Craft Show. Congratulations Claire! The labels are exquisite.

Tater Patch String Band will be playing old-time music during the art show! Big thanks go out to the Tater Parch String Band with Joy Moser on bass, Scott Dixon on banjo, Scott Nelson on fiddle, and Susan Nelson on guitar. Thank you!

Alicia of Crabtree Crafts

Alicia creates a diverse collection of crafts in the stunning Mt. Mitchell region of the Blue Ridge mountains. Her many crafts include beautiful handmade bows for all occasions, textile crafts and décor, glass art, crochet items for the home and stuffed toys for the child in everyone. When not crafting, Alicia enjoys the outdoors, especially fly fishing, and spending time with her family and animals.

Joel Cole

Joel Cole is a native to Weaverville who studied under City and Guilds of London for faux finishes, lived in New York City until 1994, returning home to expand his gardening and painting skills for a simpler life. Joel’s paintings will be available in this show.

Jayne Harnett-Hargrove 

Jayne Harnett-Hargrove is cross trained in the traditional arts whose output encompasses illustration, word-wrangling and free-style graphic novels exploring the road of memory, and personal myth. She will have works on paper & board, and Meraki (her quarterly perzines) on hand.

Tanya LaCorte  

Tanya LaCorte started designing clothes when she lived in New York City and later opened her store, Gallerie Noire, in New Hope, PA in the early 90’s. She recently started designing again and enjoys working with new and vintage fabrics.

Meghan Martin

Meghan Martin is an artist blacksmith currently living in Western North Carolina. Meghan creates a wide range of work including sculpture, functional objects for the home, and garden tools. She draws inspiration from nature and her work as a gardener, creating pieces that delicately reference time, erosion, rock formations and other geologic phenomena.

Claire Simpson Jones 

Claire Simpson Jones works primarily with watercolor, striving to capture the impact nature has on our lives. Whether painting landscapes or women in nature, her work reflects her deeply rooted passion for our natural environment.
