‘Red Rocks’ Penstemon is a magnet for hummingbirds and bumblebees!
We have it planted in our Pollinator Garden and we’re constantly seeing bumblebee butts going in and out of the tubular flowers. ‘Red Rocks’ flaunts its hot pink flowers all spring through summer with deadheading, plus the foliage is mostly evergreen. It’s deer resistant and drought tolerant once established, and a staff favorite here and in our home gardens.
‘Red Rocks’ is a Mexican/California cross that grows 1-3’ tall x 1-2’ wide. It enjoys full sun and is hardy zones 5-8. It thrives with excellent drainage, so mix 50% compost together with 50% your native soil to achieve good drainage in the root zone over winter.
This long-blooming perennial makes a great plant for pollinator gardens. We suggest planting 5-7 plants to entice pollinators and delight humans. Get planting!
