Joel Cole’s Faer Hill Cottage Garden was initially inspired by English cottage gardens, and this jewel box garden includes a number of garden rooms – such as the potager garden, the “Back Room”, the Asian garden and the water garden with cobbled pathways. In this garden full of color and joie de vie, Joel always finds room for one more lovely plant, all set against a rich backdrop of texture with many evergreens providing winter interest. Joel’s painting studio, with his bee hives on the roof, is nestled amid the garden.

About Joel Cole: Joel is an artist, gardener, beekeeper, and world traveler. In 1983, Joel started Faer Hill Cottage Garden for his grandmother, Bessie Garrison. After his grandparents passed away, Joel bought the property and returned home from New York City to put down roots in his hometown of Weaverville. A true heritage garden, some of the plants in Joel’s garden were handed down from his great-grandmother and his grandmother.

*This Garden Tour will be in the cool of the evening. You may visit anytime between 6:30 and 8:30 pm.
*Location and parking information will be provided with registration. On-street parking near Joel’s is reserved for handicapped parking only.
*Please wear appropriate shoes for walking around on uneven ground. Joel has beehives in the garden, so allergic persons should exercise proper precautions.
