Have you seen the groovy 1977 VW Bus at our entrance? Our amazing staff includes numerous professional artists, and they collaborated to repaint the bus. We have captured this wonderful artwork on a fun light-blue t-shirt. 100% of the proceeds of these shirts benefit victims of Hurricane Helene.

We Love Red Rocks!
‘Red Rocks’ Penstemon is a magnet for hummingbirds and bumblebees!
We have it planted in our Pollinator Garden and we’re constantly seeing bumblebee butts going in and out of the tubular flowers. ‘Red Rocks’ flaunts its hot pink flowers all spring through summer with deadheading, plus the foliage is mostly evergreen. It’s deer resistant and drought tolerant once established, and a staff favorite here and in our home gardens…
Attending the 75th Anniversary Mountain Horticultural Field Day
On August 15, I (Joy) was able to attend the annual Field Day at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center down in Mills River. While I only attended the morning sessions, this all-day event was packed with learning all about new plants, new research, new-to-NC plant diseases, and more.
