New to WNC? New to gardening? We’ll walk you through the seasons to a successful year-round garden/landscape – and share all the tips & tricks you need to get off to a great start. We’ll discuss typical seasonal weather & a general planting calendar, WNC soil, determining the amount of light your garden receives, when to prune, useful tools for this region, plant palettes, and more. Questions will be welcomed!

About Ruth Gonzalez: Ruth grew up running a little wild in her family’s woods and watching the sunshine glittering on the bay in front of her home. An artist, occasional garden consultant & designer, and an NC Certified Plant Professional – Ruth has actively gardened since her college years and has worked at Reems Creek Nursery since 2003. Organic gardening, pollinator habitat, and the wonders of the natural world are her passions. She serves on the Bee City USA-Asheville/Ashville Butterfly Trail Steering Committees. She is especially inspired by those gardening practices that nurture the planet & its creatures, and by gardens that reignite our connection to beauty, delight, and all of nature.
