Songbirds in Your Garden + Bird Nesting Ball Make & Take
At Reems Creek Nursery during our Earth Day Saturday Celebration
Sat. April 25, 2026
10 am – 12 pm
With Chris Davenport & Erin Greene
Part 1 – Songbirds in Your Garden:
Consider humankind’s age-old love affair with birds.
Looking back and moving forward – we’ll discuss our relationship with birds – their allure, how the past choices have led to dramatic declines in bird populations, and most importantly, how our choices today can help bird populations rebound by our building vibrant, healthy, and ecologically functional environments; one garden at a time.
Part 2 – Bird Nesting Ball Make & Take
Following the Songbird Workshop, Erin Green will lead the group creating her wonderful Bird Nesting Balls. These grapevine balls are stuffed with soft alpaca fiber and hung in the yard to provide birds with luxurious natural nesting material for their eggs and baby birds. Bird Nesting Balls are a great alternative to bird feeders where bears are a problem – site your Nesting Balls where you can enjoy watching the visiting birds.

About Erin Green: Erin is a long-time Weaverville resident, who stays busy raising her kids and alpacas, and is our Customer Service Manager. She has a lovely farm in town with 10 alpacas, 2 miniature donkeys, and 1 very dedicated livestock guardian dog. She enjoys playing with all things fiber, spending time outdoors, and loves our local food scene! You may recognize Erin from our Holiday Open House, where she brings two of her alpacas, Lizzy and Rosa, to visit for the day!
