- Sat., Aug 23rd – Count with Cristi or Tina at 11AM and 1 PM (ages 5+). Come spend 30 minutes learning about pollinators, and how to take your census.
It’s very easy to participate!
- Print out this worksheet (or we can print one out for you).
- Select a plant that has pollinators (bees, butterflies, etc.) on it. Our Pollinator Garden is an excellent location!
- Set a timer for 15 minutes. Most cell phones have timer options.
- Count & categorize every pollinator that lands on the plant, marking your sheet.
- Go to the website at the top of the worksheet and upload your results.

Optional:
- Here’s a short intro video with more information.
- Here’s a longer, more in-depth video on insect identification.
You can do this as many times as you like over the 2-day period!
Tips:
- Organizers want to know if there’s any honey beehives within 5 minutes of whatever location you use. Here at Reems Creek Nursery, we do have one honey beekeeper within that range. You can check using this map.
- Organizers request that if you fill out multiple sheets on multiple plants, to please upload the results for each one individually. This provides much-needed information about how much pollinators love particular plants. If you have too many sheets to deal with or don’t have time to upload results, we will be happy to handle that for you.
This is open to EVERYONE – please help spread the word! Invite your friends! We have many plants covered in pollinators all day long – perfect for counting.
