Celebrate Earth Day by learning to grow your own Lion’s Mane, Shiitake, and Oyster mushrooms on cherry, oak, hickory, and birch logs! Join our NC USDA certified mushroom experts Sweet Dee and Jesse of Resting Point Farms, at Reems Creek Nursery, on April 22 from 2:00 pm – 3:30pm for the beginner mushroom log workshop.
During the workshop you will:
- use power drills
- inoculate with organic mushroom spawn
- wax logs to protect mycelium
- receive customized guidance for home placement
- receive an illustrated infographic guide
Everyone will take home one 3 foot inoculated mushroom log, illustrated mushroom growing guide, and a smile on their face.
The workshop concludes with a discussion about how to care for your log once you get home. Class fee includes professional instruction + materials (sustainably, locally harvested log bolts, gourmet and medicinal mushroom spawn, food-grade cheese wax, tools). Limited enrollment with pre-registration required.
Drills will be provided; we encourage you to bring your own power drill to speed up the group and practice gaining confidence with your own power tools. We will provide custom drill bits.
Bring reference photos of locations you hope to install your mushroom log. Ideal locations are shady, moist, and close enough to your daily natural walking paths so you don’t miss a flush of mushrooms! Our customized guidance will bolster successful harvests for years.
Price: $70 + tax
Breaks: 10 minute break midway
Offer: Extra logs will be available; $25 per mushroom log
